The Duggar family. TV’s larger-than-life clan that promotes good, wholesome living while remaining in their means.
You love or loathe the brood that stars in TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting.” Your laughed and rejoiced with them (or said, “enough already!”) as they celebrated new arrivals and weddings and cried with them when they suffered losses and a premature birth.
Then news of eldest son Josh’s misgivings a little more than a decade ago involving young girls and some of his sisters hit the media this week.
Whoa, wait a minute! Lots of questions. How could this happen? How did it remain out of sight and swept under the rug? What about the female sibs who were directly affected? Are they OK? And so on.
In summary, all was reported to authorities and forgiven by Josh’s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar. Josh worked through his transgressions and is a changed man. Now married with three children and another on the way, Josh’s wife, Anna, knew of what transpired two years before he proposed to her, but she supports him and life, apparently, continues.
Here’s the question, though: What’s next for the Duggar clan? According to the latest published reports, a spinoff series featuring the Duggars’ latest newlyweds, Jessa (Duggar) and Ben Seewald and Jill (Duggar) and Derick Dillard, is in the works. In the meantime, “19 Kids” remains on hiatus and advertisers are withdrawing from the show.
Is the latest news doom and gloom for this family, like it has been for so many other reality families (Think “Jon and Kate Plus 8” and “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”)? What do you think? Could you continue to watch and read about the Duggar clan now that the latest news has been proclaimed?
