TUNKHANNOCK – A 41 year-old Tunkhannock man faces at least 23 months in state prison after being sentenced last Wednesday on separate charges of simple assault, resisting arrest and public drunkenness over the past year.

Kevin L. Shoemaker appeared before Judge Russell Shurtleff.

He was sentenced to 12-24 months in state prison for simple assault that occurred on October 21, 2011; and to 11-24 months in state prison for resisting arrest on June 1, with the sentences to be served concurrently. He also faced a fine of $300 for an incident of public drunkenness on July 1.

OTHER SENTENCES

Other sentences handed down:

John E. Barral, 25, of Mehopany, was sentenced to 10-23 and-a-half months in county jail and a $500 fine for criminal conspiracy to commit burglary on January 18.

Sophia L. Brown, 24, of Tunkhannock, was sentenced to 12 months probation for theft by unlawful taking on March 16.

Robert Craig, 23, of Factoryville, was sentenced to 97 days-12 months in county jail and a $500 fine for disorderly conduct on August 2.

Michael Ely, 42, of Tunkhannock, was sentenced to 3 days-12 months in county jail and a $500 fine for harassment on July 15.

Shaun Furman, 20, of Tunkhannock, was sentenced to 3-12 months in county jail and a $500 fine for possession of a controlled substance on November 2, 2009; and to three days-six months in county jail and a $1500 fine for a DUI; and to 5-10 days in county jail and a $300 fine for disorderly conduct on December 4, 2010.

Mar Grillo, 43, of Tunkhannock, was placed on probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine plus $784.04 restitution for a DUI on November 6, 2011.

Kevin L. Heeman, 22, of Tunkhannock, was sentenced to 2-12 months in county jail and a $500 fine for theft by deception on June 25.

John Karschner, 26, of Meshoppen, was sentenced to 123 days-12 months and a $500 fine for simple assault on May 27.

Rebecca A. Mercer, 44, of Noxen, was sentenced to 12 months probation for crimnal trespass on February 14; and to a $1000 fine and 12 months probation to be served concurrently for unsworn falsification to authorities on February 21.

Sean T. Morton, 38, of Noxen, was sentenced to two-12 months in county jail and ordered to pay restitution of $480 for theft by deception on March 27; and to two-six months in county jail to be served consecutively and a $500 fine for theft by deception on January 21.

Daniel Post, 21, of Meshoppen, was sentenced to 12 months probation for possession of drug paraphernalia on December 2.

Craig Richter, 27, of Mehoopany, was placed on probation and ordered to pay a $1500 fine for a DUI on January 7, 2009.

Alfredo Russo, 23, of Jim Thorpe,  was sentenced to 33 days-12 months and a $500 fine for terroristic threats on September 3; and to 12 months probation to be served concurrently for recklessly endangering another person on September 3.

Bonnie Spindler, 20, of Tunkhanncok, was sentenced to a $300 fine for possession of a small amount of marijuana on September 28, 2011.

Steven Thomas, 24, of Tunkhannock, was sentenced to 12 months probation for simple assault on February 26.

Michael Surplus, 38, of Avoca, was sentenced to three-12 months in county jail and ordered to pay $477 in restitution for theft by unlawful taking or disposition on April 19.

Bradley L. Thacker, 30, of Tunkhannock, was sentenced to 30 days-six months in county jail and a $1,000 fine for a DUI on February 25.

Daniel Washburn, 31, of Laceyville, was sentenced to two-12 months in county jail and a $500 fine for disorderly conduct on October 7, 2011; and to a $200 fine for driving under suspension.

Matthew Drogan, 24, of Tunkhannock, was sentenced to nine-24 months in state prison and a $500 fine for writing bad checks on June 24, 2011; and to three-12 months to be served consecutively for theft by deception on June 6, 2011; and to two-12 months to be served consecutively and a $500 fine for possession of drug paraphernalia on October 9.

Robert Wiles, 44, of Laceyville, had his sentence suspended and was ordered under house arrest for DUI on May 16.

Others that were to be sentenced but had their court cases continued:

Joseph M. Ayers, 44, of Tunkhannock, charged with agravated assault and criminal mischief on Oct. 10, 2010, case to be continued to Dec. 5.

Lawrence Scott, 65, of Tunkhanncok, charged with DUI on March 15, 2010, case to be continued on December 5; new bail set at $25,000.

Beau J. Baker, 23, of Meshoppen, charged with theft by unlawful taking on July 4, withdrew his guilty plea. Trial is set for December 10 at 8 a.m.

Thomas M. Ferkler, 47, of Paoli, charged with DUI on March 18, failed to appear in court for sentencing. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Christina Paris, 21, of Meshoppen, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, failed to appear in court for sentencing. A warrant was issued for her arrest.
