TUNKHANNOCK – A 37-year-old Eaton Township man was sentenced Wednesday in Wyoming County to six and one-half to 15 years in prison for the rape of a child.
Jason Mark Darling, formerly of Copper Kettle Mobile Home Park, also received a 6-24 month sentence to be served consecutively to the other for an indecent assault of a second girl under the age of 13.
The mother of the victims addressed the Court of Common Pleas by saying her life had been “a walking nightmare” and “there is no acceptable punishment for what my daughters had to suffer.”
Darling had faced as much as 150 years in prison for 14 different charges for incidents that happened between 2002 and 2008.
He was arrested April 7, 2010, and according to a criminal complaint, police said they learned of the alleged assaults from Wyoming County Children & Youth Services.
On Wednesday, Darling’s attorney, Paul Ackourey told President Judge Russell Shurtleff his client’s behavior was inexplicable, but he accepted responsibilityfor his action.
