Mark B. Harshbarger, 42, of RR 3 Meshoppen (Briar Ridge), died Thursday evening, Sept. 14, 2006, as a result of a hunting accident, in Buchans Junction, Newfoundland, Canada. He died doing what he loved best, being outdoors.

Born Oct. 11, 1963, in Lewistown, he was a son of Leonard Harshbarger of Sweet Valley and the late Beulah Ann Youtzy Harshbarger, who died in 1995.

He was a 1981 graduate of Lake-Lehman High School, where he was a member of the wrestling team and the 1981 AA Pennsylvania state championship team. He served in the U.S. Air Force 1981-1984 as a military police officer serving stateside. For the last 17 years he was a projects manager for P.D.G. Environmental, Drums.

He was a member of Franklin Lodge #263 F&AM, Laceyville. He was also a member of the NRA and a wildlife nuisance control agent for the Pennsylvania Game Commission. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family, and he also enjoyed working on the family farm on Briar Ridge.

Besides his father, he is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Kintner Harshbarger, whom he married June 23, 2001; son, Elijah James Harshbarger, 7 months; daughter, Myra Lee Harshbarger, 4; stepdaughter, Heather M, Kintner, all of Meshoppen. Also two sisters, Susan Schmidt (Butch Bradley), Cadiz, Ohio, and Sharon and husband Dan Chorba, Dallas; two brothers, Barry Lee and wife Linda Harshbarger, Burlington, and Dean A. Harshbarger, Meshoppen; brother-in-law, John Kintner, Meshoppen; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Sept. 23, from Sheldon Funeral Home, Meshoppen, with Masonic services by members of Franklin Lodge #263 F&AM.
