A 20-year-old Mehoopany man charged with statutory sexual assault with a 14-year-old girl waived his rights to a preliminary hearing Thursday.
Adam Russell Lane, of Schoolhouse Hill Road, appeared with his attorney Deborah Albert-Heise, before Magisterial District Judge John Hovan.
He also faces charges of aggravated indecent assault and corruption of minors. All three are felonies.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Tunkhannock Twp. Police Chief Stanley Ely, the Wyoming County Children and Youth Services office began an investigation last April 3.
On Nov. 13, the alleged victim and her mother were interviewed at the police station where the teen admitted to three occasions of having had sexual relations with Lane.
On Dec. 7, officers interviewed Lane, who subsequently admitted to the allegations but said he believed she was 16 years old at the time.
Lane remains free on $25,000 unsecured bail and will be arraigned in the Wyoming County Court of Common Pleas on Feb. 7.
